Before the Holidays, Painted Brain had the opportunity to facilitate a wreath making class at the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles. Melissa Hernandez and Christina Reynolds from our community center hosted the event. The women (around 15) all gathered around a giant conference table and were given a wire frame to start with. Using paddle wire, the women added pine, eucalyptus and other materials such as different colored ribbons and holly to make their wreath unique. All of the women live in the residence at DWC and were able to display their wreaths on their doors just in time for a door decorating contest that was happening the following week. Melissa and Christina assisted any women struggling to finish and many of the women held their wreaths proudly for pictures at the end. We were invited to come back next year to host the same event and look forward to our weekly workshops at DWC with Christina every Monday morning from 9:30am-11am.
